GEFCO confronts the DELTA procedure

From SOFI to DELTA: a mini revolution in customs clearance

The implementation of the DELTA (electronic declaration by automatic transaction) transmission procedure which dematerialises the SAD (Single Administrative Document) has just been launched within the GEFCO group, having chosen the CONEX software, DELTAPass , at the beginning of 2007.

The GEFCO group (400 locations in 80 countries) is one of the 10 leading transport and logistics groups in Europe. Starting from a single database, the CONEX tool will pilot customs clearance in 17 GEFCO agencies spread across France, making 60 workstations available to its users. For GEFCO, which in 2006, in the framework of the so-called “droit commun” (full declaration) procedure, processed 70 000 customs declarations in 35 offices, passing from the previous SOFI procedure to DELTA necessitated finding a well-adapted solution

WE CHOSE CONEX
“We launched an invitation to tender to 7 companies; two of them were in a position to obtain the contract,” confided Diane FOREAU, GEFCO Customs Operations Manager. . « “We chose CONEX for two main reasons: the functionalities offered were adapted to our needs, and the reputation of CONEX widely confirmed by our colleagues whom we questioned at length.” . »
From as early as the month of February, the CONEX SOFICHAIN system took over during this intermediary stage when the French Customs Administration announced the setting up of the DELTA system. DELTA has been deployed progressively since the month of June. The CONEX DELTA-C software: precise and time-efficient.

“Gone are the long carbon-interleaved sets, the expensive specialised printers, the trips to the customs office to lodge documents, the administrative processes; the CONEX software interface simplifies considerably these customs procedures and demands far less time!”

“It also provides us with additional information within the contents of the declaration, simpler codifications and the possibility to parameter certain data allowing us to create our own customer records,” continued Diane FOREAU.

CONEX, LEADER IN DELTA TRAINING

“CONEX provided us with training for DELTA users, firstly in an amphitheatre, then, thanks to an efficient training aid: a very ergonomic manual (with on-screen copy) which makes it possible to virtually train yourself when you have a good knowledge of the business. CONEX also supplied us with a high-quality technical and functional document and their technical and commercial teams are always ready to help. Therefore we are happy with the choice we made,” concluded Diane FOREAU.
