Schneider Electric Industries and CONEX, Delta pilots
As early as 2004, Schneider Electric Industries was chosen by the French Customs Administration as a pilot company for the setting up of the new dematerialised customs clearance procedure DELTA (On-line Customs Clearance by Automatic Transmission). This veritable adventure, undertaken in partnership with CONEX, is recounted to us by Céline GUILLEMIN, Operational Customs Manager and Adélaïde LECOCQ, Customs Methods Manager, within the Customs Department of Schneider Electric Industries directed by Bernard DAGUZAN.

Mory : Top level training, guaranteeing a successful entry into the world of DELTA
MORY Ingénierie is an integrated service provided managing the entire MORY Group’s IT systems. Faced with the introduction of the DELTA customs procedure, it was necessary for it to find a common tool to be used at all MORY locations in order to comply with the customs administration rules. The CONEX software package, DELTApass was short listed following a call to tender which placed it in competition with the company Sage (formally Elit)...

CONEX, DDS Logistics, Qualitair&Sea a successful team !
The workings of an intelligent supply chain

A supply chain is a global network capable of providing services to the final customer through a rationalised information flow. It’s this kind of coordination that two supplementary software providers, DDS Logistics and CONEX, have mastered for a common client, QUALITAIR & SEA, transporters and customs agents. When QUALITAIR & SEA Information Systems and Quality Control Manager, Valérie ROUGEOT, and her team chose the DDS Logistics “freight forwarding / agent” solutions, “it was,” she says, ”from the outset with the intention of integrating CONEX’s SOFIchain tool and therefore having a direct liaison with customs”. Added to this, SOFIchain integrates perfectly with Pro Transit Data, the freight forwarding application commercialised by the specialist DDS Logistics.

Olivier SCHULMAN, DDS Logistics’ Commercial Director, launched a strategy in 2003. When he established a technological partnership with CONEX, it was with a view to convincing the customs procedures specialist to interface its “customs clearance” module with Pro Transit Data (PTD). At the heart of QUALITAIR & SEA’s information system, PTD covers all the international transport freight forwarding needs, whether by air, sea or road, for importation and exportation. CONEX’s SOFIchain had to be able to interface with Pro Transit Data without requiring the re-entering of data. The supply chain would then ensure the capture of any data relevant to customs treatment, before distributing it for processing by DDS Logistics software. “Customs is not our profession,” Olivier SCHULMAN recognised.

A successful partnership

The whole system was thus changed dramatically into ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) mode, an information system unifying tool, integrating company functions such as accounting, human resources, production and financial management and so on.Thanks to the companies’ (particularly CONEX) strong desire to succeed, the “dream team” is now perfectly in its stride: “CONEX’s product has contributed enormously to our operations in eliminating the single work station bottleneck: now five declarants work in parallel at Roissy, likewise at our agencies in Orly, Lyon, Marseille or Le Havre. There is also the possibility of preparing declarations at a distance between these agencies,” explains Valérie ROUGEOT proudly.

Computer engineers from the two service providers achieved the feat of real time recuperation of French Customs Services’ SOFI from Pro Transit Data, with automatic updates every 8 minutes.
As data is shared and distributed, each of the QUALITAIR & SEA services works with its corresponding software: « Our customs service uses only SOFIchain from CONEX, and our transport services only DDS Logistics’Pro Transit Data,” states the Information Services Manager with satisfaction.
The moral standard set by this extraordinary partnership is summed up by Alban GRUSON, CEO of CONEX, “The old adage, ‘united we stand, divided we fall, strength through unity’ applies perfectly here. This union perfectly respects the know-how of its partners, because to each man his own trade.”
